BOUCHERVILLE, Wednesday, March 10, 2010 - After
compiling the latest school results, team academic consultants from around the
Quebec Major Junior Hockey League today released the names of the Scholastic
Players of the Month for February.
This initiative’s goal, which was
developed by the QMJHL and its member clubs, is to recognize student athletes’
performances both on the ice and in the classroom.

The Drummondville Voltigeurs continue to have one of the stingiest defences in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Frederic Piche earned the first shutout of his QMJHL career as Drummondville blasted the Val-d'Or Foreurs 7-0 Saturday night.
Piche had an easy night as the Voltigeurs allowed only nine shots on net.
Last week, Drummondville's Jake Allen played 188 minutes and 47
seconds without giving up a goal, the second longest stretch in league
history.
The Voltigeurs have allowed 178 goals this season, third best in the QMJHL.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was Rimouski 6 Baie-Comeau 5 (SO);
Rouyn-Noranda 3 Shawinigan 2; Cape Breton 8 P.E.I.

Grâce à une victoire de 4-2 sur les Huskies de
Rouyn-Noranda acquise sur la glace de l’Aréna Dave-Keon, vendredi soir,
les Voltigeurs de Drummondville ont remporté le championnat de leur
division pour une deuxième saison consécutive et pour la troisième fois
de leur histoire.
Avec quatre parties à disputer en saison régulière, les
Drummondvillois (47-15-0-2) revendiquent maintenant 96 points.

TORONTO, Wednesday, March 3, 2010 – The Canadian
Hockey League today announced that Jake Allen of the Drummondville Voltigeurs is
the CHL Goaltender of the Week for the second time this month.
For the
week ending February 28, Allen went 4-0-0-0 with two shutout victories posting a
goals-against-average of 0.500 and a save percentage of .980 while producing the
second longest shutout streak in QMJHL history at 188 minutes and 47
seconds.
Allen’s shutout streak began after allowing a first period goal
at 6:16 Wednesday night to the PEI Rocket in a game where he made 31 saves to
earn a 3-1 victory.

BOUCHERVILLE, Tuesday, March 2, 2010 – The Quebec
Major Junior Hockey League today announced the award-winners of the offensive,
defensive and rookie player of the month awards for February. The players were
chosen by a committee mandated by the League.
Nicolas Deschamps is the
award-winner on offence. In eleven games, the Moncton Wildcats forward
registered eight goals, including three game-winners, and added fourteen
assists. Moreover, he posted a +7 rating. His offensive output, which reached
two points per game, certainly played an important role in the team’s record as
the Wildcats collected points in nine of their eleven contests.
